I was born and raised in a small rural town in Humboldt County and I have been dancing since I was five years old, spending my childhood studying ballet, modern, jazz and West African Dance. During college I continued to train in ballet, and dabbled in Latin Ballroom. During these years I also began belly dancing and toured and performed with the internationally renowned Suhaila Salimpour. It was during law school seven years ago, when I began dancing salsa. I trained and performed with the pro-team of Majesty in Motion prior to moving to the back to the bay area where I trained and performed with the professional team of Salsamania for a couple of years. I took nearly two years off from dancing because of an injury and due to an incredibly demanding career. I returned to salsa, joining Couture Dance Alliance in January of 2011, and started dancing with Haute Couture. I chose to join CDA because my closest friends and some of the best dancers in the salsa scene had made the move to dance with Luis. I also chose CDA because I wanted to learn from the best and be challenged with a new level of creativity. I particularly enjoy the opportunity that Luis gives his dancers to showcase their other dance techniques by incorporating lyrical movement into his choreography.
